Chanter’s Alley

Name: Chanter’s Alley

Country: South Korea

Formed in: 2011

Status: Inactive

The band was formed in Seoul, South Korea in June of 2011 by John Middlemis, Bryan Suechting, Do JoongMo, John Grady, and Kim DooHwan. They played their first show on July 2 at Club FF in Hongdae. Shortly thereafter, John Grady left the band to raise his son in Canada and was replaced by Trevor Gardner. The new line up stepped up the pace immediately, writing new songs and playing concerts every other weekend.

In December 2011, Chanter’s Alley began recording their EP, “Broken”, which they produced independently. However, over the course of the recording, the band encountered many setbacks including losing both Korean members. After finding replacements, they hit the clubs and have since been playing gigs around Korea.

Starting in late 2012, after several temporary member changes, Joongmo and Doohwan came back to the band. Unfortunately Bryan had to leave Korea but he was replaced by Yumi on the bass.

The Sunday Punchers

Name: The Sunday Punchers

Country: South Africa

Formed in: 2010

Status: Inactive

The Sunday Punchers were a Celtic folk punk rock and roll muck up. Traditional Irish music, as well as deep rooted South African folk have a lot in common in terms of music styles. A couple of guys, some from Irish/Scottish heritage and others from their deep rooted Afrikaans heritage decided to do away with their noisy punk rock riffs and look a little deeper into their roots. The Sunday Punchers first set sail on their journey in mid 2010, with only two members. The first year was not smooth sailing, the waters of the South African music industry for a new band are not the easiest to navigate, with financial problems and commitment issues a few members where lost. In early 2011, the original Punchers knew that they needed some new crew. The Band released debut album in 2014.
